Cultural Competency Workshop: Choosing the Red Road

June 23, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

$50

Choosing the Red Road: Behavioral Health and Native Communities

This session of our Cultural Competency Workshop Series will look at traditional Native health and wellness practices that, historically, have helped Native people attain strong behavioral and mental health. Although these practices have been broken down throughout history, the remaining underlying value systems can support a return to good health when practices are utilized with Native populations.

Upon completion of this session, participants will:

  • Gain knowledge of traditional Native wellness beliefs and practices
  • Understand the ramifications of this knowledge on contemporary interventions
  • Be able to apply the learned concepts to help Native American populations

Who should attend: Mental health professionals, social workers, addiction counselors, residential treatment professionals, youth group home professionals, juvenile justice professionals, school counselors, service providers, non-profit leaders, and others.

The cost is $50 to attend. Please visit the Registration page to sign up and for payment details. We are now able to accept payments online!

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.

The Cultural Competency Workshop Series is a service of SPRC for professionals in the Bismarck-Mandan area working with and in American Indian populations. CEUs are provided where possible.
