Cultural Competency Workshop: Traditional Teaching Methods

October 28, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

How Educators can use the Past to Teach for Today

Traditional teaching methods in American Indian communities were based on specific Tribal value systems. These value systems often run counter to the value systems in most mainstream teaching and learning environments today. Is there a way to reconcile these values and communicate more effectively? This session seeks to synthesize information about the “Native learner” into concrete strategies for teaching and working with Native youth and parents.

The cost is $50 to attend. Please visit the Registration page to sign up for the event and for payment details. We are now able to accept payments online!

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.

The Cultural Competency Workshop Series is an on-going service of SPRC geared toward professionals in the Bismarck-Mandan area working with and in American Indian populations. CEUs are provided where possible.
