Using Power to Build Community

This session will discuss the dynamics of power and helping in the community. There are many different types of power. Do you know what type of power you have and what type you don’t? What does power have to do with helping others? Using cultural frameworks, this session will help participants understand how power and helping go hand in hand.

Upon completion of this session, participants will:

  • Understand how power and helping are related
  • Be able to identify cultural frameworks of helping
  • Better understand public responses to help

Who should attend: Social workers, school personnel, program service providers and administrators, public servants in all sectors, physical and mental health providers, and any other providers working with diverse populations, including American Indians.

The cost is $50 to attend. Please visit the Registration page to sign up and for payment details. We are able to accept payments online!

Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.

The Cultural Competency Workshop Series is a service of SPRC for professionals in the Bismarck-Mandan area working with and in American Indian populations. Social work CEUs and Certificates of Completion provided.
