$50“There was this one time…”: Native Humor and Native Storytelling
Where would any society be without humor? The ability to laugh together helps people connect, decreases tension, and helps build relationships. This session will examine some of the best Indian jokes and stories to illustrate the cultural underpinnings of Native humor and how it helps build relationships.
Upon completion of this session, participants will:
- Understand the cultural worldview that influences Native humor
- Understand the nuances of humor in building relationships
- Navigate interpersonal relationships through cultural awareness
Who should attend: Mental health professionals, social workers, addiction counselors, residential treatment professionals, youth group home professionals, juvenile justice professionals, school counselors, service providers, non-profit leaders, and others.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
