Encouraging Community Conversation
Community-wide discussions about issues are an important way to build a sense of understanding and cooperation. Sacred Pipe Resource Center is committed to hosting such conversations with our SPRC Speaker Series. These free events feature presentations on issues important to American Indians, by Native experts in a variety of fields, as a basis for community discussion.
The 2015-16 Speaker Series, A Tribe Called Urban, has taken a contemporary look at Native people living in urban areas. Our 2017 Series, Justice as Purpose & Passion, focuses on the over-representation of American Indian youth in the juvenile justice system and what can be done to change it.
