Housing is a major issue in Bismarck-Mandan. Homelessness is on the rise, slum areas are expanding, evictions are commonplace, rent and fee costs are constantly rising, and the ND Rent Help program is plagued with problems. All signs point to the exploitation and abuse of renters, especially for families struggling financially and for people of color. These housing forums will provide a space to call attention to the housing challenges facing the everyday renter and what we can do to make improvements.

There will be three forums, all held at the Bismarck Event Center:
June 24, 3–6 PM: Deposits, Fees & Other Theft; Rising Rents; Homelessness
August 16, 3–6 PM: Housing-Sponsored Homelessness; Unfair Advantages; Management Companies
October 18, 3–6 PM: Tenants’ Rights; Balancing the Scales
