Community Cultural Exchange
One of our primary goals at the Sacred Pipe Resource Center is to provide a bridge between Natives and non-Natives in the Bismarck-Mandan area. We offer many opportunities for cultural exchange and partnership, including workshops and speakers, a weekly radio show, and research data that can be useful in developing programs and services. With positive collaborations based on our shared experience of living in this region, we can build a strong and cohesive community.
The Sacred Pipe Resource Center is a North Dakota non-profit and 501(c)3 organization. SPRC seeks to enhance existing services by providing critical data, outreach and cultural brokering needs, rather than replicating or competing for existing services. Through the use of quantitative and qualitative data, SPRC addresses service gaps which may be met by partnering with organizations already providing similar services, and by seeking funding to fulfill gaps in services.
SPRC collects insightful data about the local American Indian population to create better opportunities for Native Americans living in the area. This data can be utilized to develop programs, make connections, identify needed services, access grants, and create partnerships in the Bismarck-Mandan community.
SPRC Radio Program & Community Interview is your source for weekly updates on SPRC events, interesting interviews with local Natives, and informative discussion of Native community issues and events! Tune in to KDAK 102.5 FM, Fridays at 3:00 PM, or listen live online at KDAKFM.org. You can also catch the rebroadcast Mondays at 4:00 PM.
The Cultural Competency Workshop Series is geared toward professionals in the Bismarck-Mandan area who work with—and care about—Native Americans in the community. Each workshop focuses on a specific issue, providing cultural context and background as well as concrete strategies that can be applied by professionals who work with Native populations.
The SPRC Speaker Series are community conversations hosted by Sacred Pipe Resource Center, about issues important to American Indians. Featuring presentations by Native experts in a variety of fields from around the country.
